5. Putting It To Work:

Surprisingly, Firewall-1/VPN-1 works just the same as always (from the administrator's perspective) with the TurboCard installed, only faster.  I wasn't able to see anything different when using the SmartDashboard, SmartView Status, or SmartUpdate.  It appears the card just quietly coordinates with Firewall-1/VPN-1 in the enforcement module.

I wanted to test the limits of what this card could do, but my commercial grade DSL is inadequate to the task.  The TurboCard's 2.7 Gb/s throughput is fully 2,700 times greater than my maximum 1 Mb/s Internet download speed and 27 times faster than the 100 Mb/s NIC's I use in my lab.  I moved some big files around with FTP and Firewall-1/VPN-1 and the TurboCard simply loafed through the whole exercise and mocked me for trying.
